Take a closer look inside the Two Olympic Hospitality Houses in PyeongChang
“Let’s check out all the Olympic hospitality houses!” For every Olympics, nations open Olympic hospitality houses. Visiting the various houses is one of the favorite activities for fans. The main goals of the Olympic hospitality houses are to celebrate the Olympic Games and to promote the nations’ culture. In order to win the goals, the houses often set big screen TVs so that people can gather and watch the games, and serve the native food of the country. For the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic, GEOCM brought the visitors’ experiences to a whole new level at two Olympic hospitality houses – Austria House and Casa Peru. Let’s take a closer look at how we successfully managed events at the houses.
On the 10th of February, GEOCM supported organizing the Austrian Night at Austria House in PyeongChang. Over 130 VIPs and guests from the world – Athletes, coaches, journalists and representatives from tourism were invited to enjoy Austrian dinner prepared by a renowned Austrian chef, Chef Meili. The dinner was accompanied with endless wine and Austrian music performances. Some guests danced to the traditional yodeling hand in hand enjoying the festive atmosphere.
To hype up the Olympic spirits, the previous Olympic gold medalists, Franz Klammer and Benny Raich came to speak as special guests. Moreover, an augmented reality photo booth was installed featuring the main destinations of Austria. The guests left the house with the photos as souvenirs.
Secondly, GEOCM opened the promotion house of Peru called “Casa Peru” at Malnanumteo Park in Gangneung on the 9th of February. The house featured traditional Peruvian textiles, handmade goods, superfoods, and photography exhibition.
During 18 days of operation, GEOCM held giveaway events daily and offered the visitors a hot cup of Peruvian specialty coffee encouraging photo uploads on their social media. Casa Peru dragged attention of the major media and influencers. News was broadcasted and over 40 articles were released including featured stories on MBC and Dong-A Ilbo. Overall, Casa Peru became a must-go place in Gangneung and more than 3,000 visitors visited the house during the promotion.
To sum up, the visitors had commented that they discovered and learned about the countries at the houses and would love to visit Austria and Peru one day. By holding well-organized events with various mediums, GEOCM not only offered the Olympic fans a special experience but also left good impression of the countries.
