A Week in the Life of a Traveling Zapwater Employee as Part of TLN

Zapwater Communication’s participation and involvement as a founding member of the global agency network Travel Lifestyle Network (TLN) creates a space for companies in a variety of regions to learn from and work together as a global communications system. With this comes the opportunity to collaborate on campaigns and projects to provide regional expertise and drive success through key insights and even send an employee to a fellow member’s agency for a week to work with and learn from another team.

Having participated in the employee exchange from both the host and visitor perspectives, Zapwater Communications sent Sara Leiter, Account Director in the Miami office, to work with the Big Ambitions team, located in Cape Town, South Africa. From April 2 through 5, 2023, Sara worked alongside Natalia Rosa, CEO Big Ambitions, and team to help support press efforts during the annual World Travel Market (WTM) Africa 2023. Working as support on communications, Sara attended key sessions, helped to craft social media content, draft press releases, and any additional tasks needed throughout the three-day long event. The fact-paced environment and deep understanding of the region and conference setting created an incredible learning environment for Sara to take valuable points and skills, including the functionality of making AI work for your campaign efforts, back to share with colleagues at Zapwater Communications.

The official WTM events kicked off with an awards ceremony on Sunday, April 2 and was followed by three days of Sara representing Zapwater Communications as an extension of the Big Ambitions team to learn from and support where needed. Leading up to the event, Natalia and team arranged a few social gatherings in notable areas of Cape Town to provide a truly unique and unforgettable introduction to meet and get to know the faces behind Big Ambitions. From bubbles and sushi at Bakoven Beach at sunset to an afternoon picnic at the Jordan Wine Estate and a farewell dinner at the newly opened Upper Union, the team made sure that Sara felt truly welcomed.

The breadth of both professional and personal growth that is achieved from living and working in a new environment with a group of experts in their field is an indispensable experience. TLN’s employee exchange program and participating agencies around the globe create a unique sense of growth for companies and the individuals that work for them.
